We like to keep these kind of things around the house and inside our cars. You never know when you may need one. We had another in my wife's car when we got stuck behind a car wreck cleanup which took two hours. That one had a larger serving size and we had to throw away a large portion, however it did fill our bellies which was what we needed. This product is a smaller serving size, about 475 calories per envelope. That's a decent meal for one person or a tide me over snack for two. That is a much better system. The taste is okay, but survival foods seldom really taste good anyway.

I didn't expect emergency rations to taste like a chocolate bar and these don't, but they don't taste bad.I actually think they taste perfect for emergency food. Good enough to eat in a bind and bad enough not to use them as a snack just because they're there on a shelf which is what happens to some of the hurricane supplies every year.This is survival food and it's set to last at least 20 years and based on having half a bar. Alone, I could probably survive a while on these. They will never be my only supplies. I also keep canned goods but it's nice having something that I don't have to get rid of every two years because it's going past its expiration/best before date.For the price and what you're getting, you can't go wrong here and again, they don't taste too awful.

When I think chocolate this is not what I desire lol, but this is perfect for emergency use. I love that they have high calories and are full of good nutrition. You never know what might happen and these are good to have on hand....until 2042.

These are some tasty food ration bars! The chocolate flavor isn't overpowering and the texture somewhat reminded me of a dense shortbread cookie.What stood out to me is that these bars are double wrapped. Not only do they come packaged in their own separate vacuum sealed foil bags but when I opened them the bar itself is plastic wrapped inside the foil bags. Although this might seem like a small deal this double packaging method ensures the longevity of the bar (up to 20 year shelf life) and makes it harder for them to get ruined, let's say, in a go or bug out bag.These bars also work great for catching mice. We noticed that a mouse started making himself at home and would often run across our deck. So fun fact, mice (and rats) love chocolate! And it just so happened that these bars were chocolate flavored. I got some creamy peanut butter and I crumbled some pieces of this bar. I put some of the crumbled bar pieces in the peanut butter inside the trap. I set the traps out around 12 am and sometime during the morning, we noticed that a mouse was in the trap.Not only are these bars great tasting but they will keep you going in an emergency situation. Best of all as an added bonus these bars might also help you to catch your next meal.
